🎓 Degrees of Each Level of Consciousness
Growth Potential and Requirements
For those operating at more elevated levels, particularly levels 4, 5, 6, and 7, failing to function at the degree of at least the “Consciously Abiding” level can lead to significant negative consequences.
Additionally, to progress to the next level of consciousness, individuals must achieve at least the “Consciously Abiding” state, regardless of their current level.
It is also important to note that anyone can experience a “Fleeting Glimpse or Awakening” of any level.
Given sufficient study, attaining a “Conceptual Understanding” is not particularly challenging, and most anyone can capture it, but looks impressive to those who have not studied it.
Furthermore, individuals can simulate a “Performative Competence” by mimicking superficial demonstrations if they possess adequate knowledge about the level. However, this requires more than just studying information; they must also observe the movements and behaviors of individuals at the level they wish to emulate, essentially fooling themselves and others by faking it to appear as if they are at that level of consciousness.
Each level has different degrees of how deeply that level of consciousness is integrated, including:
1. Fleeting Glimpse or Awakening
Definition: They have a brief, initial moment of exposure or insight that provides a tantalizing preview of deeper complexities. It can lead one to mistakenly believe that this limited view is sufficient to fully understand the subject at hand.
Key Traits:
- Sudden spark of interest or intuition.
- No stable ability to replicate or sustain the experience.
- Often inspires further curiosity or exploration.
2. Conceptual Understanding
Definition: They have a solid grasp of theories and concepts that facilitate engaging discussions, but fall short of enabling reliable application in real-world situations. May be prone to overestimating their understanding, believing they have a complete picture of the subject.
Key Traits:
- Clear knowledge of terminology and conceptual framework.
- Confidence in explaining the subject matter.
- Limited and inconsistent theory.
3. Emerging Application
Definition: They start transforming theory into practical action, though outcomes may be inconsistent or prone to error. Practicing and stumbling become essential parts of the journey as one refines understanding through trial and error. Sometimes progress seems accidental or lucky, revealing glimpses of emerging capabilities.
Key Traits:
- Tangible but inconsistent attempts to “walk the talk.”
- Growing awareness of what true competence involves.
- First signs of bridging knowledge and hands-on skill.
4. Performative Competence
Definition: They can outwardly demonstrate a skill in a manner that often appears convincing, yet their deeper understanding and adaptability remain limited. While their efforts may look polished on the surface, the underlying proficiency is still in the process of fully integrating and internalizing. As a result, improvisation and acting play a prominent role as they navigate through a “fake it until you make it” phase, gradually solidifying real competence beneath the performance.
Key Traits:
- May believe that they’ve “arrived” due to basic mimicry success.
- Reliance on memorized procedures, protocols or scripts.
- Large gaps in understanding deeper nuances.
5. Mediocre Adequacy
Definition: They have a consistent, day-to-day functionality at an average adequacy, but with little progress toward expertise. They often feel stagnant, stuck, and uninspired. They can sense there’s more to learn but aren’t sure why to advance since they are good enough in comparison to their peers with no experience. People with little to no knowledge can be fooled into thinking they have an expertise.
Key Traits:
- Capable of meeting most normal demands.
- Tendency to remain in a comfort zone.
- Little motivation or guidance to push to get better and improve.
6. Consciously Abiding
Definition: They exhibit fluent, proficient functioning, supported by deliberate daily efforts to refine skills and deepen understanding. Driven by genuine interest, they actively identify areas of underdevelopment, seeking out where they are unskilled in order to improve. Their sincerity in pursuing growth is evident in their willingness to make and correct mistakes, demonstrating responsibility and unwavering dedication to continuous improvement.
Key Traits:
- Capable, reliable, and consistent, even under stressful conditions.
- Actively pursuing new insights and improvements.
- Continuous self-awareness of growth opportunities.
7. Embodied Mentor
Definition: Their skills are so deeply ingrained that people are naturally drawn to learn from them. Their skills function like second nature, allowing them to guide others while continually refining their own abilities. They continue to keep learning through mentoring others.
Key Traits:
- Execution feels natural and seamless.
- Ability to model best practices and effectively mentor.
- Ongoing self-development in tandem with leadership.
8. Advanced Expert
Definition: They are distinguished by advanced capabilities, well beyond typical proficiency even among mentors.
Key Traits:
- Innovations that exceed conventional techniques.
- Often credited with pioneering new methods or high benchmarks.
- Regarded as a central figure or visionary in the domain.
9. Transcendent Expertise
Definition: Their abilities increasingly appear remarkable or near-miraculous, though still somewhat within the realm of explanation. They are truly gifted.
Key Traits:
- Performance consistently surprises or inspires awe.
- Deep intuitive grasp guiding groundbreaking innovations.
- A rare level of expertise that sets new precedents.
10. Mastery
Definition: Their abilities are unexplainable or seem unattainable—operating beyond expert comprehension.
Key Traits:
- Effortless demonstrations that defy established expectations of how things work.
- A mastery that cannot be fully articulated in conventional frameworks.
- They are catalysts for paradigm shifts in how people perceive human potential.
